Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

Training Surgeons for the Future of Medicine

The newly formed Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is committed to providing consistent, exceptional clinical care to our patients. As part of this commitment, we are devoted not only to training the next generation of skilled surgeons, but also to advancing the teaching of musculoskeletal medicine for medical students. Our department strives to contribute to the field through rigorous research and innovation, further enhancing patient care and medical education.

CHI Health Orthopedic Surgery Center

Come summer 2026, the School of Medicine will welcome Orthopaedic Surgery residents who will train at the newly established CHI Health Orthopedic Surgery Center at CHI Health Lakeside in Omaha. The 49,500-square-feet center will house up to 20 orthopaedic surgeons at one time seeing patients. Connected to Lakeside, the facility will give patients easy access to imaging, surgical suites and hospital services. Established in large part because of the growing need to care for our aging population, the residency and center will expand the care available to Nebraska and Western Iowa.
