Conducting Life-Enhancing Research to Advance Medicine

At Creighton, students and faculty conduct research that saves lives, contributes to the betterment of society and brings new discoveries to the world. Faculty and staff stimulate critical and creative thinking in students while providing ethical perspectives.

How We’re Engaging Students in Research

At the Creighton University School of Medicine, we endeavor to create a culture of inquiry, to improve health by asking relevant research questions and pursuing those answers. Research mentors are available in many fields of research in the School of Medicine.

Research and Mentorship

“Mentorship comes in many forms throughout our careers, and I advise our students that everyone they encounter ... is someone they can learn something from,” says Andrew Siref, MD, assistant professor of pathology and mentor in the School of Medicine. “Seeing our students gain the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to step into patient-care roles is very rewarding.”

“Dr. Siref has helped me discern my career choice through teaching, advising and guiding me through research projects,” says third-year medical student Peter Halloran. “It is a nice feeling knowing someone is looking out for you and wants to see you succeed.”
