Valleywise Health Medical Center is currently a 220-bed acute care hospital located near the heart of downtown Phoenix and is a tertiary referral center for ambulatory care and long-term care within Maricopa County, as well as the state of Arizona. Valleywise Health Medical Center’s primary mission is providing care for the underserved in the community. The hospital sees a large case load in Level I Trauma, contains a Pediatric Level 2 Trauma center, and houses the renowned Arizona Burn Center.

Valleywise Health Medical Center is transitioning to a brand new, state-of-the-art hospital and support services building in the winter of 2024 with 240 single-patient rooms. The Arizona Burn Center (ABC) at Valleywise Health has the distinction of being the state’s only adult and pediatric tertiary burn center verified by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and has 45 beds. At the ABC, we treat every imaginable type of burn—including those caused by fire, hot liquids, electricity and lightning, chemicals, smoke inhalation, and Arizona’s extreme summer heat. Working in partnership with our nationally verified trauma center, the Arizona Burn Center offers critically injured patients a greater than 98% survival rate, exceeding the national average of 94%.
