All medical students will spend assigned weeks on surgery under the supervision of an attending physician. During this experience, the student will be an integral part of the surgeon’s team.

On this rotation, medical students will be exposed to trauma resuscitation in the emergency room, operative management, and non-operative management of the trauma patient. Our team emphasizes a multi-disciplinary approach for trauma patient care. Attending staff members, who supervise this service, provide trauma and general surgical expertise to the team.
Patient care management is provided on this very busy service by general surgery residents and fellows in bariatric and colorectal surgery. Attending staff members, who supervise this service, provide expertise and clinical experience in bariatric, colorectal and oncologic surgery to the team on this rotation.
This rotation, located at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center Bergan Mercy and Lakeside Hospital, reflects the clinical experience and general surgery in a private hospital setting.
