Medical School Education

Pathology instruction at Creighton University Medical School takes place in the form of didactics, labs, case-based and team-based learning in the M1 and M2 curriculum. The Department also offers USMLE Step 1 preparation course for review of Pathology content. All educational material is linked to the course textbook, Robbins Basic Pathology, and is delivered by attending pathologists.

M3 and M4 year medical students interested in pursuing pathology education have the opportunity to elect Pathology rotation similar to that of a PGY-1 pathology resident. The purpose of the Pathology elective is to provide an understanding of the role the anatomic and clinical pathologist plays in patient management. This elective will expose the medical student to the fields of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology including Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, Hematopathology and other areas of Laboratory Medicine. Clinical experience in Pathology Department is also available for M1 and M2 students interested in learning about the practice of Pathology.
