Creighton University has had a presence in the Dominican Republic for 50 years. We are hosted there by the Centro de Educacion para la Salud Integral (CESI), or Misión ILAC, with whom we have a very close partnership. This partnership grew from efforts to provide immersive experiences in health services and has expanded to other initiatives including service, medical, and cultural immersion programming for Creighton University students through the Global Engagement ILAC-Creighton office. Encuentro Dominicano depends on our strong relationship with CESI to decide on locations for immersion experiences and “proyecticos” (projects that the students complete while they are in the community). The immersion communities form the basis of a major educational opportunity for the Encuentro students as they learn the way of life in the Dominican campo and the daily life of the community members.
Encuentro students will live in dorms on the Misión ILAC campus that house four to six students per room. Each room has its own private bathroom and shower. Bed linens, bath towels and a mosquito net are provided for each student. We encourage students to embrace a simple-living lifestyle while at the ILAC Campus and during their time in the Dominican Republic.

There is wi-fi available throughout the ILAC campus for schoolwork and communication.
Other ILAC campus facilities that are available for student use include a volleyball court, running track and workout area, dining hall, classrooms, chapel, laundry room and several open space areas for studying or resting. As there are other people besides Encuentro Dominicano students that stay at ILAC, students will be expected to live in community not only with each other, but also with other student groups and medical teams.
