National Association of Social Workers

Barb Harris, former Director, Monica White, Current Director, Cathy Fox, Field Director with students at NASW-NE 2018 annual conference.

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with 150,000 members. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

Students are encouraged to become members of NASW, which provides membership, resources, and advocacy at the national and state levels.  Students are eligible for reduced cost membership, which then generates eligibility for scholarships and networking platforms; as well as reduced membership fees for two years post graduation.  Students interested in social work, but completing a different major at Creighton University are eligible for “associate membership,” with access to the same resources.  See this link for more information: https://www.socialworkers.org/membership/membership-types/students.

Owen Wurst, class of 2020, received the NASW-Nebraska Student Scholarship in fall 2019.
