Student internships are an essential part of the University Libraries’ emerging technologies programs. These internships allow students to become involved in the research and development projects as well as pursuing solutions. Interns have the opportunity to work on real-world challenges and collaborate to develop innovative solutions. Libraries’ staff work with and mentor student interns. Besides a variety of technical skills, interns also gain soft skills such as creative thinking, time management, collaboration, and design thinking. The result is that interns learn skills that help them obtain employment upon graduation.
Talented students from diverse fields apply and are interviewed for available positions. Based on their interests and projects available, an intern is assigned to work with a staff member.
