Kate Bandel

Study Abroad, Togo

With the connections of a Creighton professor, occupational therapy student Kate Bandel traveled to Togo, Africa, to be of service to a community’s healthcare needs. Her experience included helping to unload a 40-foot shipping container of the medical supplies destined for a local operating room and working alongside a nurse midwife in a safe baby wellness check campaign.

“Service at Creighton has made textbook things more real life for me,” Kate says.

Kate, who graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2023, connected to the service opportunity through the Omaha nonprofit organization Global Partners in Hope, which is headed up by her global health professor at Creighton.

“Creighton is definitely helping build a more just world by giving students these opportunities.”
