John R . Wingender, PhD

Economics & Finance

Dr. John Wingender is a professor of economics and finance at Creighton University Heider College of Business.  The classes he teaches include the Managerial Finance, Investments and Advanced Financial Management.  After investing in real estate, Dr. Wingender wanted to learn more about the subject and went on to pursue advanced degrees in the field.

He believes “any and every student can learn about finance.  It just takes repetition, repetition, repetition.”

Dr. Wingender received his BA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and his MA and PHD at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.  His ongoing research interests include corporate finance and portfolio management.

In addition to academia, Dr. Wingender enjoys fishing, swimming, boating, grilling and spending time with his family.
