Emily Stokes holds an MFA in printmaking from Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts and a BA in studio art and English from Wellesley College. Prior to joining Creighton’s Fine & Performing Arts department, Stokes taught and managed the gallery at Northwestern College (IA). Her visual work uses narrative and a language of symbols to investigate the undercurrents of tension and humor in her immediate surroundings. Achievements include a Purchase Award at the McNeese Works on Paper Juried Exhibition, Second Place Award at the Four Rivers Print Biennial, an Alice C. Cole ’42 Alumnae Grant from Wellesley College, and an Endowed Research Fellowship from Northwestern College. Stokes has presented papers at the Mid-America College Art Association Conference, Southeastern College Art Conference, and Mid-American Print Council Conference.
