Professor

Dr. Siracuse is Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Pharmacy Sciences in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions at Creighton University. He is a member of the Creighton Center for Health Services Research and Patient Safety (CHRP).  Dr. Siracuse received a Bachelors in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut, a PharmD from the University of Michigan, and a Masters and PhD in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota. In 1996, Dr. Siracuse completed a fellowship in Pharmacoeconomics with the PRIME Institute at the University of Minnesota, Hoechst Marion Roussel, and Aetna Pharmacy Management. Dr. Siracuse is an AFPE Fellow. His research interests include economic issues related to pharmaceuticals and pharmacy benefits, patient safety, and health information technology. Dr. Siracuse has been on faculty at Creighton University for over 15 years, where he teaches courses in Health Care Systems and Patient Safety, Pharmacy Practice Management, and Pharmacoeconomics. Dr. Siracuse has participated on three federally funded studies by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) that have focused on health information technology and patient safety, as well as numerous other privately funded studies. Dr. Siracuse has participated in federal grant review panels for AHRQ and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  Dr. Siracuse has been a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association, and is currently a member of the Creighton University Institutional Review Board. In 2012, Dr. Siracuse completed the Academic Leadership Fellows Program sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. Siracuse has practiced as a pharmacist in numerous community retail pharmacies, a university operated home infusion therapy pharmacy, and managed care at a Pharmacy Benefit Manager.
