I’m the Director of Music Ministry here and at St. John’s Parish. Talk to me if you’re interested in music at any of the weekend Masses or services on campus, Taizé Prayer services, or University Liturgies. I also help facilitate our Interfaith Prayer Service. Check out the Music Ministry section of our website for more information on those!
Music ministry is, quite simply, "what I do." It has always been a part of my life. I grew up north of Chicago with my parents and two siblings. My mom (CU '78) and dad led one of the ensembles at my home parish, and I was therefore a member. I was also part of liturgical ensembles at my grade school and Carmel Catholic High School. I studied Music Education and Music Theory at Ithaca College, where I also co-directed the Catholic Community's music ministry and occasionally helped out at Cornell University’s chapel. I graduated with a Masters in Sacred Music from the University of Notre Dame (go Irish!), where I was involved in leadership with the Folk Choir, Notre Dame Vision retreat program, and dorm Masses. I spent two years in Wexford, Ireland with Teach Bhríde (House of Brigid), a lay volunteer community dedicated to the renewal of the Catholic Church in Ireland through catechesis and music. Music ministry is my vocation – quite literally, the word “vocation” comes from “vocare” (called out, calling back) and “vox” (voice)! I love bringing our community’s voices into one in prayer.
