As a member of the Creighton Campus Ministry team and the Coordinator of Marriage Preparation at Creighton/St. John's, I feel delighted and humbled to be able to assist students, alums, children of alums, staff and parishioners in their journey toward life-long marriage.
I was born and raised in Omaha and graduated from Marian High School. I received a bachelor's in business administration from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, but I found my true calling in life when I started working in ministry to families and youth in Omaha. I have worked in youth ministry and as a religion teacher in schools and parishes in the Archdiocese of Omaha. I have had the privilege of being a student at Creighton two different times in my life. I first earned my Master's Degree in Theology from Creighton and then a few years later I returned to Creighton as a student in order to gain my teaching certificate.
My true joy in life is developing my vocation as wife and mother. I married John Martin in 1997 and we have three sons who are being educated in the Jesuit institutions. Having lived out a Catholic marriage for over two decades gives me a wonderful perspective on the commitment needed for life-long Christian marriage.
I love my work with engaged couples! I find that engaged men and women are often experiencing a very happy time in their life and I enjoy celebrating and walking with them in this joy and love. At the same time, engaged couples may be under a high level of stress as they plan a wedding, earn degrees, enter or continue professional careers and balance the many demands of life. Helping couples to find God in the midst of all this as they build their life long-marriage is the ultimate reward.
