Biography: 

Jeanne M. Burke earned a Masters in Education, with an focus on curriculum & instruction in 1992.  Two years earlier, she completed a Masters in Library & Information Sciences with an emphasis on information science in 1990.  In 1982 she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, TV, Film.  All three degrees were awarded from the University of Missouri-Columbia. 

Before coming to Creighton as Education & Liaison Coordinator in 1995 for the Health Sciences Library, she was Head of the Nebraska Legislature Research Library for three years.  Prior to moving to Nebraska, she oversaw the University of Mo.-Columbia (UMC) Law Library’s Government Documents Section, 1986-1992 and taught a half-time Education Media course for the UMC’ College of Education as a Graduate Instructor from 1982-1988. 

Since coming to Creighton, she has been Library Liaison to a number of programs and committees.  Among the most notable is Liaison to the College of Nursing (CON) and the areas within the School of Medicine (SOM).  She was appointed to Creighton’s Committees to develop the Masters of Public Health (MPH) Program, Interprofessional Education Office, and the School of Medicine Curriculum Revision Working Group.  Ms. Burke has participated in the accreditation & curriculum committees for the SOM and CON, building planning committees for the Creighton’s Library & Commons Buildings and the Phoenix Campus.  For over ten years, she has been on the Executive Board of the Immunization Task Force of Metro Omaha (ITF).   She is the Chair of the Academic Partners and is a member of the Research Committee for Creighton’s Center for Promoting Health and Health Equity.  She has lectured and contributed content in classes for Nursing, Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Education, and other scholarly, research, and development programs for student, staff, and faculty.   

Ms. Burke has a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion regarding access to healthcare and health information as demonstrated by ongoing work with the CPHHE’s COVID-19 Ad-Hoc Committee, Creighton Haiti Disaster Relief,  ITF Vaccination Promotional & Education Community Campaigns’ and the Libraries’ IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism) Library Guide.  She also continues to hold office in national, regional, and local professional librarian organizations.
