Dr. Hasslen was raised in small-town central Minnesota and attended The College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN where she received a BA in Natural Science. In 2003 she received her DDS degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry. Upon graduating, she was commissioned as a captain in the United States Air Force. She then completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry one-year program at Barksdale AFB, LA, and later an advanced clinical preceptorship in 2012. She transitioned to the USAF Reserves and continues to serve in this capacity with the Nebraska Air National Guard where she holds the rank of Lt Colonel and is the Chief of Dental Services. Dr. Hasslen is currently the interim department chair of the General Dentistry Department. Her joy is working with students in pre-clinical labs and in the clinic, teaching restorative techniques, acute care, and CEREC technology. She has been a faculty mentor twice for the Summer Health program with ILAC. Her interest in research lies in ergonomics for the dental practitioner and CEREC technology. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking/running the family pets, traveling, reading, cooking, and baking.
