Anne Harty joined the College of Nursing faculty in the fall of 2022. Her Creighton journey began in 1993, when she moved from California to Omaha as an undergraduate student. Anne is a three-time graduate of Creighton, earning a BSN in 1997; MS, Family Nurse Practitioner in 2000; and EdD in Interdisciplinary Leadership in 2019. Prior to joining the Creighton faculty, Anne has worked as a nurse coordinator and genetic research associate, nephrology nurse practitioner, school nurse, and associate director of undergraduate admissions. She was instrumental in in ensuring the passage of a bill that required all public schools in California to have stock epinephrine. In 2021, she and a friend built Equivax, a model for vaccine equity, which became the COVID vaccine clinic model adopted by the Sacramento County Department of Public Health. Like her professors did for her, Anne instills in her students the vital role nurses play in being involved in advocacy and the legislatvie process. She teaches them that advocacy and policy play critical roles in population health and the advacement, protection, and promotion of nursing practice and that nurses have a great responsibility to serve as guardians of public health and the nursing profession.
