Biography:
Christine (Chris) Carmichael, MS LIS, joined the Reinert-Alumni Library in 2005 as the Web Services and Business Reference Librarian after serving 12 years with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in various Library and Information Management roles. As one of three Senior Research and Instruction Librarians, she oversees a small team of librarians focused on providing information literacy instruction, research assistance, and resource workshops for the Creighton community.
Her tenure at the university includes stints as President of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) – Nebraska Chapter, Communications Director for SLA’s Knowledge Management Division, chair of numerous library committees, and instigator of an embedded librarian program for the Heider College of Business.
In addition to the Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign, Chris also has a BA in English with a focus on Creative Writing and Shakespeare. She has poetry published in an anthology titled, “Carrying On: A Collection of Fan Poetry Inspired by the T.V. Series Supernatural;” writes music reviews for The Riff and Modern Music Analysis, digital music publications hosted on Medium.com; and currently serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Academic Librarianship.
Chris’s research interests include knowledge management, leadership, and music. She is searching for a link between librarianship and Irish pub songs. She still hasn’t found what she’s looking for.
