Assistant Professor - Education

Description

The Department of Education at Creighton University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor to teach in their Secondary Education program.  We seek individuals committed to being outstanding teacher-scholars. This 9-month position will begin in Fall 2025 and will have a 3-3 teaching load.  Successful candidates must possess a terminal degree and have had experiences teaching in a secondary classroom. Prior face to face and Online teaching experience at the college level is also valuable. The candidate will teach on-campus and online courses for our secondary education program to both graduate and undergraduate students.  

Applicants have the option to part of a cluster hire across the College of Arts and Sciences, forming a multidisciplinary initiative focused on the topic of Race and Social Justice as a line of inquiry in the candidate's teaching and/or research. Qualifications

  • A terminal degree in Education (Ph.D. or EdD)
  • Experience teaching in secondary education classroom
  • Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision making in support of their goals, success, wellness, and needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations
  • Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others
  • Ability to contribute meaningfully to university goals of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Indicators of strong research potential
  • Evidence of a commitment to high quality, college-level teaching
  • Interest in engaging with department, college, university, and discipline as a strong community member

  • Statement of Teaching Philosophy
  • If candidate wishes to be part of the cluster hire opportunity: A 500-word statement describing how the applicant’s line of inquiry in research and/or teaching is informed by the theme of race and social justice
  • Three letters of recommendation, at least two of which should speak to the candidate’s teaching ability
