As part of the College of Arts and Sciences, the department provides a program of study conducive to developing competence in the spoken and written language, and a knowledge of the literatures and cultures of the target languages. We teach variety of language courses at many levels, including language for the professions and academic service learning. We endeavor to educate students in the value of engaging in service to the larger community at home and abroad in the target languages. Our courses are marked by excellence in teaching and are sustained and enhanced by on-going scholarship and service.
