The Union Pacific Diversity Scholars Program is a prestigious award offered through Union Pacific Railroad (UP). UP is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in downtown Omaha with more than 40,000 employees across the globe. The company has a long-standing commitment to engage students who can articulate and promote workplace leadership in equity, diversity and inclusion for a more just world.
The program is an ongoing partnership between Creighton University and UP to promote equity, diversity and inclusion. Freshmen who win this award receive a $25K/year scholarship for four years and are part of a growing community of scholars.
Effective fall 2023, the Union Pacific Diversity Scholars Program will join the Next Generation Leaders Program. The merging of these programs will allow for even greater impact on our campus and beyond. Scholars within these programs will receive support, personal and professional development, internship and job shadow opportunities and training in equity, diversity and inclusion approaches. The success of these programs is defined by the number of Creighton graduates with a deepened cultural competency and understanding of inclusive excellence; graduates who will enter their profession of choice with an inclusive mindset.
