Graduate Assistant

“Serving as a graduate assistant has touched all aspects of my life, beyond a job. Throughout this experience I have been able to deepen my passion for justice in a professional setting, while sharing that passion with others. One aspect of this work that has been invigorating both personally and professionally is embedding education for justice into our local community engagement program. Through this development we brought together justice education and policy change to connections with communities who are impacted by systemic injustices. By embedding justice education into our programming we are more effective at teaching students the “Two Feet of Love in Action” also known as service and justice. Additionally, I have been able to learn so much about working in a professional environment that is consistently changing due to COVID-19, this has helped me practice being flexible in a way I never imagined myself doing. A nod to a prayer attributed to Fr. Pedro Arrupe, falling in love with the work we do in the SCSJ and staying in love has decided everything for me.” – Jordan Malcom

“My experience as a Graduate Assistant in the SCSJ has been more than I could have hoped for! Having been heavily involved in the SCSJ in undergrad, it was a natural transition for me to become a GA. Through my two years, I have learned countless skills in communications, ministry, accompanying students, and professional development. “The SCSJ Graduate Assistantship allowed me to follow my passions, hone my skills and gain valuable experience in faith-justice ministry. I was able to transition from the peer ministry of coordinating domestic and international immersions to learning the administrative aspects of our Service and Justice Trips program.
