Welcome to the Department of Neurological Surgery at Creighton University in Omaha, one of the oldest medical schools in the western United States. We are building a department with the goal attaining ACGME accreditation for a new residency training program. To that end, our mission is the creation of a comprehensive clinical neurosurgery program that can treat the full spectrum of neurosurgical disorders. Our areas of focus include routine and complex spinal surgery (including spinal deformity correction), deep brain stimulation (for Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and dystonia), epilepsy surgery, brain tumor surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, brain and spinal tumors, cerebrovascular surgery, and neurotrauma/spinal trauma.
Our practice is based at the CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center Bergan Mercy, a Level 1 Trauma Center. In addition to the clinical realm, we are also dedicated to advancing the field via clinical and basic research. Lastly, we are active in education of the next generation of physicians. We offer fourth year medical student clerkships, in addition to mentorships of medical students. The latter includes sponsorship of a newly created medical student interest group for Creighton University students.
