Every member of the Creighton community deserves to feel safe and have access to resources that help support their integrated wellness. Learn more about the ways Creighton is here to support you below.
Wellness is the multidimensional awareness and practice of cura personalis, or “holistic care for the individual person,” to achieve a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Your goal is to find and pursue your passion, and our goal is to help you achieve the healthy, balanced lifestyle that will allow you to do so. At Creighton, you'll participate in activities that cultivate emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, spiritual and social wellness. Find resources that align with each of these wellness dimensions below.
This aspect of wellness focuses on effectively coping with life and creating satisfying connections with others. In the Creighton community, you’ll find services and support to help manage your mental health—or get help for others.
Additionally, our Office of Title IX and Civil Rights Compliance is here to help ensure that everyone at Creighton is treated with respect and dignity. Because we believe that any form of harassment, discrimination, sexual and/or relationship misconduct is a violation of human dignity.
A good environment can support good health, so it’s vital that we consider how to preserve the place we all call home—our planet. Through our Office of Sustainability, Creighton implements sustainable practices and programs on campus, serving as a hub for collaboration among students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, our local neighbors and global partners. By working toward a more sustainable present and future in Omaha and afar, we can help create the conditions for better environmental wellness.
Good financial wellness creates a sense of satisfaction with one’s current financial situation—and where that situation will be in the future. For Creighton students who want support with this aspect of their wellbeing, we offer student financial aid, and our campus banking partner, U.S. Bank, provides financial wellness coaching. Plus, our Business Office is here to help you stay informed and organized about billing and payments.
Solid intellectual wellness requires finding ways to expand one’s knowledge and stimulate one’s creative abilities. As a student at Creighton, you’re already on the path to boosting your intellectual wellness, and we’re here to help you along your journey. We offer student success services like tutoring and academic coaching, as well as opportunities to channel your intellectual curiosity through undergraduate and professional research.
This type of wellness centers around personal enrichment and satisfaction derived from work and professional life. Creighton can support your career aspirations and occupational well-being through the John P. Fahey Career Center. It offers resume and interviewing guidance and helps connect students and potential employers.
Additionally, all freshmen have the opportunity to take the CliftonStrengths for Students assessment. Created by Gallup, CliftonStrengths for Students analyzes the results of a survey to identify the top five strengths of an individual, highlighting their natural inclinations to success.
There are many factors that contribute to physical wellness, including diet and nutrition, physical activity and sleep. At Creighton University, whether you want to maintain or improve your physical well-being, we’re here to help. Our fitness facilities, CHI Health Student Care Clinic, educational resources related to drugs and alcohol, and the on-campus food pantry, Creighton Cupboard, are all designed to support our community.
From the broadest perspective, spiritual wellness involves expanding one’s sense of purpose and meaning. As a Jesuit, Catholic university, we offer plenty of support for a student’s spiritual life, including opportunities to worship and pray on campus. You can also attend retreats and workshops offered by the Deglman Center for Ignatian Spirituality.
It’s important to note that Creighton is committed to religious and spiritual diversity. Our campus ministry offers multifaith resources and can help you find your place in an interfaith community.
Good social wellness requires developing a strong support system and a sense of connection and belonging. At Creighton, we can help facilitate a sense of social well-being through a variety of clubs and organizations, and we provide ways for you to serve others through Schlegel Center for Service and Justice programs and service trips. We also promote social wellness through our commitments to equity, diversity and inclusion.
