The Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Center is a free, confidential resource for Creighton students, faculty, and staff. We support individuals following incidents of sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and other related issues. This support is for both primary survivors (individuals who have experienced an act of violence) and secondary survivors (friends, roommates, parents, etc.).
To speak with us 100% confidentially, email our team or call 402.280.3794.
The VIP Center is available to support anyone in the Creighton community impacted by violence—whether directly or as a friend, roommate or family member. We offer a safe, confidential space to talk, find resources and get help after incidents like sexual violence, dating or domestic violence, and stalking. We also provide education to prevent violence and promote a caring community. Our support services include:
An advocate can provide judgment-free support for the Creighton community, to help them process victimization and regain control of their life. During this meeting, the advocate will listen, empathize and empower their survivor.
An advocate can assist students, faculty and staff by exploring options, assessing for risk factors for increased violence and safety planning.
Victim advocates can provide survivors referrals for counseling resources to get the mental health care that they deserve.
An advocate is available to accompany students, faculty and staff to any criminal or civil case court hearing due to victimization, including Injunctions for Protection. An advocate is not able to provide legal advice, but can offer emotional support before, during and after the hearing.
An advocate can arrange a medical/forensic exam following a sexual assault. Forensic medical exams can be done for up to 120 hours (5 days). A client does not have to file a police report to get an exam.
An advocate can provide trauma-informed care and can help a client understand their reactions and feelings in relation to what has happened to them. Information will not be shared unless granted permission to do so.
The VIP Center also provides educational programming to the campus community, including training on:
