When you join the Creighton University Sports Physical Therapy Residency in Omaha, Nebraska, you’ll participate in a fast-paced, high-energy clinical immersion experience. This program is designed to kick-start your clinical specialization in sports physical therapy, helping you quickly progress from a new practitioner to a confident clinician. During your residency, you’ll receive quality clinical mentorship and didactic instruction from experienced faculty to help deepen your expertise.
NOTE: The American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE) has granted candidacy status to the Creighton University Sports Physical Therapy Residency. This status signifies satisfactory progress toward accreditation, but it is not an indication that ABPTRFE will grant initial accreditation. Therefore, those that complete a program with candidacy status will not graduate from an accredited program.
The Creighton University Sports Physical Therapy Residency will be participating in the standardized Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program Match for the upcoming application cycle. This will process will fill our one available Resident positions for our upcoming start date: Aug 1, 2025. The program is committed to developing specialization in advanced sports clinical practice, teaching and advocacy by providing advanced education and focused, ongoing mentorship in preparation of physical therapists who will become leaders in sports physical therapy practice and provide enhanced patient care.
At the conclusion of the program, residents should be able to demonstrate the following:
Additionally, residents will be able to discuss and apply foundational, behavioral and clinical sciences, as well as critical inquiry principles related to advanced clinical practice. They will also have the knowledge and skills necessary to complete the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Sports Specialist Certification Examination.
Retention rate indicates how many residents were retained for the entire residency program out of the number of available positions. Completion rate indicates how many residents successfully completed all program requirements.
