Center for Promoting Health and Health Equity

CPHHE is a community-academic partnership established in 2008 that implements evidence-based initiatives to promote health and health equity. Applying research, intervention, and training and development sustains the effort to address health disparities.

Mission

CPHHE identifies health disparities and effectively promotes health equity and health improvement in a collaborative community-Creighton partnership in accord with Ignatian values. 

Vision

CPHHE significantly contributes to the elimination of ethnic, racial and other health disparities in Nebraska and the region. CPHHE is valued and respected by communities and academia.

Triple Core Approach

Our approach to projects focuses on research, intervention, and training and development. Learn more about each aspect below.

  • Research: Through collaborative research with communities, the Center for Promoting Health and Health Equity (CPHHE) works to reduce health disparities. CPHHE investigates community needs and how evidence-based interventions best meet those needs.
  • Intervention: The intervention core describes CPHHE’s efforts to concretely improve community member health and encourage positive health behaviors, with an emphasis on preventing and self-managing chronic diseases.
  • Training & Development: Through the Training and Development core CPHHE provides faculty and students with programming tailored to incubate their skills and prepare them for health disparities research and health-related careers.

Dr. Jeff Lang

Dr. Jeff Lang - Chair of the CPHHE Academic Partnership

Dr. Jeff Lang is a Learning Specialist and Assistant Professor of Medical Education in Creighton University’s School of Medicine. He provides academic support to medical students out of the Office of Student Affairs specializing in test preparation and learning strategies. He previously supported students in Health Sciences – Multicultural and Community Affairs (HS-MACA), preparing the students for medical and dental school. He held the position at HS-MACA for ten years and is in his sixth year in the School of Medicine. His research interests are learning strategies, supplemental instruction, cooperative learning and the outcomes of test preparation programs.
