Director, Applied Research and Evaluation

Description

The Director for the new Core for Applied Research and Evaluations (CARE) within Creighton’s Institute of Population Health, is responsible for guiding the CARE unit’s strategic development and leading its portfolio of work including program evaluation, research, and teaching activities. The director will work collaboratively to establish a robust portfolio of projects that advance the IPH goal of being a resource in support of all of Creighton’s schools and colleges, its affiliated health systems, and community-based organizations.  The Director will be passionate about leveraging data and applying robust research methods to improve the health of populations, reduce disparities, and contributing evidence to inform policies and programs that advance health equity. The Director will hold the position of the Harold Bonnstetter Endowed Chair from the Creighton University School of Medicine.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the position is responsible for developing and leading the operational and strategic development of the CARE unit, contributing expertise in qualitative and mixed methods research, and supervising other staff and faculty comprising the CARE team.  Additionally, the ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial spirit, infectious enthusiasm and a proven record of making an impact in healthcare and/or the community through his/her work.  Daily responsibilities include providing oversight for evaluation activities, including development and implementation of evaluation plans, processes and tools, and data analysis. This position requires extensive skills in developing, organizing, managing, and communicating with others. 

Qualifications

  • A Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Credentials to support the rank of Associate Professor
  • 7+ years of experience in qualitative, mixed methods, community-based participatory research, and/or survey design, with a history of consistent funding through grants and/or contracts
  • Research experience in health care, community health and well-being, health equity, social determinants of health, and in diverse populations
  • Experience mentoring researchers and/or evaluators in the development and execution of project-based work.
