Amy J. Parrish, JD
Assistant Professor of Practice
Amy Parrish brings a passion for both law and education to her role at the Heider College of Business. Since joining the faculty in 2014, she has taught undergraduate courses in business law, focusing on helping students understand how legal strategy and ethical leadership intersect in the business world.
Before entering academia, Parrish spent nearly a decade in private practice at Mauck & Baker, LLC, a Chicago-based firm specializing in religious liberty, nonprofit law, and constitutional litigation. Her work centered on advising churches, ministries, and nonprofit organizations on legal compliance, governance, and First Amendment protections. Today, she maintains a small legal practice and continues to advise nonprofit organizations and small businesses on issues such as governance, compliance, and risk management.
Parrish equips her students to approach legal issues not just as constraints, but as strategic tools for ethical leadership and effective risk management. She views her classroom as a space for translation—demystifying legal concepts and helping students see their real-world business applications. She also mentors students exploring legal careers through her role as faculty advisor to Creighton’s Pre-Law Society.
Parrish earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science and communications from Dordt University and her Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law. A strong advocate for student mentorship, she is committed to fostering a classroom environment grounded in care, clarity, and practical engagement.
