Hobbies: I really don’t have time for hobbies, I have four kids that I am constantly running from one activity to another. I do enjoy listening to audiobooks while in the car or doing chores around the house.
Fun fact about yourself: Although not an alumna of Creighton, I was married in St. John’s Church on campus and lived in the residence halls for three years because my husband was a Resident Director. I love Omaha and named my first dog Eppley after the Omaha airport.
Why do you think Creighton is special? The two things that make Creighton so unique are being situated in Omaha and our strong Jesuit values. Omaha is a vibrant, student- friendly, affordable, Midwestern community. It is a perfect place to go away to college because it is so welcoming, and the job opportunities are huge. Creighton is also strongly committed to our Jesuit values, like caring for the whole person. Everyone you come into contact with at Creighton wants to see you succeed.
Do you have any special advice or tips for applicants? Don’t be afraid to research and apply to a university that seems like a good fit for you, but maybe not all your friends or family have heard of. Many of the students that I have worked with in the past, might be the only one from their high school to come to Creighton, but they make great lifelong friends and have an amazing college experience.
What do you like about Omaha and what are your favorite secret spots? There are a few really fun neighborhoods within a few blocks of Creighton like The Old Market, Blackstone District and Midtown Crossing. Right outside of the Old Market area is a little Italian neighborhood. The neighborhood church, St. Francis Cabrini, is one of my favorite worship spaces in town, and the best pizza in Omaha can be found at Orsi’s. It is an Italian bakery that also makes great “Omaha style” pizza.
