Theresa Jizba, DNP, AGACNP-BC, ACHPN

Assistant Professor

Theresa Jizba, DNP, AGACNP-BC, ACHPN, is an assistant professor at Creighton University and a palliative care nurse practitioner at Nebraska Methodist Hospital. Her interests include primary palliative care curricular integration, advanced care planning, and vascular access utilization in acute care settings. She holds degrees from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and her doctoral work addressed how patient education on central line-associated bloodstream infections impacts the implanted port device utilization.
 
As vice-chairperson of the Nebraska Palliative Care and Quality of Life Advisory Council, Dr. Jizba facilitated the passage of a palliative care definition in the state legislature. She is a regional representative for the End-of-Life Nursing Consortium (ELNEC) curriculum, is nationally recognized for evaluating the ELNEC Graduate curriculum, and has been invited to teach primary palliative care skills to nursing faculty at a national workshop. Dr. Jizba is currently working with an interprofessional team to decrease healthcare fragmentation in Nebraska with an electronic database to improve the accessibility of out-of-hospital emergency treatment orders.
