Contes de Ma Mère-Grand

1973 Le Lion et le Rat. D'apres Esope; Texte de Catherine Marchak. Illustrations de Nemo. Paperbound. Contes de ma mère-grand: Odege; Le Livre de Paris. $1.70 from Marie Gervais, St.-Urbain-Premier, Quebec, Canada, through eBay, Dec., '10.

Here is a twelve-page large-format pamphlet portraying part of Mes Fables d'Animaux from Touret, for which edition I have guessed a date of 1975. This pamphlet measures 9" x 11¾". It is one of three in the "Contes de ma mère-grand" series that represent fables. The rat here is out hunting butterflies. He plants a butterfly-net with vigor on the lion's nose. The colored illustrations are lively and tasteful. Many cover a whole page, while others are integrated around text.

The country mouse lives in an old shoe. The final picture of the country mouse sleeping in an improvised hammock made out of a corn husk is splendid! The colored illustrations are lively and tasteful. Many cover a whole page, while others are integrated around text.
