Krylov White Textbox

1930?  Five postcards featuring colored images of Krylov's fables along with a short title and citation from the poem against a white background.  €5 from Bartko-Reher, Berlin.  June, '24.  Three more for €5 each from Bartko-Reher, Berlin, Nov., ''24.

I find these images unusually good.  I can find no indication of artist or date.

Demyanov's Soup

(Authors' going on and on sickens people more than urging poor John to eat more and more)

Cook and Cat

The cook gives a long lecture to the naughty cat, who just keeps eating the cook's dinner

Donkey and Nightingale

The donkey hears the nightingale with pleasure and then urges him to listen to the rooster and she will sound even better!

Monkey and Spectacles

A monkey with failing eyesight hears that glasses help.  She gets classes and puts them on her tail, licks them, puts them on top of her head -- and finally declares them useless.

Strangers and Dogs

(Let barking dogs alone, and they will quit barking; attack them and they may hurt you.)

Three Townies

(One is smart enough to get the other two talking while he polishes off all the soup.)
