This is a community for the curious. At Creighton, we’re conducting research that moves big ideas forward, and our undergraduate students play a hands-on role.
Here, you can be involved in research as early as freshman year. Creighton's undergraduate research opportunity program is open to all majors, from business to biology to journalism. Here, students drive research projects, get published, present at conferences across the U.S. and gain real-world experience.

More than 1/3 of Creighton’s undergraduates take part in research before graduation, some as early as freshman year.
Undergraduate Student Research Awards
Creighton awards undergraduate researchers more than 40 funded summer fellowships. Most of these summer research programs for undergraduates are funded by Creighton, while six are funded by a National Institutes of Health INBRE (IDeA Networks for Biomedical Research Excellence) grant. Dozens of other paid opportunities exist through external grants obtained by faculty members across different colleges at Creighton.
Examples of research Creighton undergraduates recently have been involved with include:
- Creating a public database of the history of hate crimes committed in Nebraska
- Developing and implementing control software to monitor safety systems of the STAR detector at Brookhaven National Laboratory
- Determining the effect of e-cigarette aerosol on airway muscle function
- Discovering the most important factors that determine support for wind power development in potential host communities in rural Nebraska
